East Baltimore Development, Inc.

Through a partnership with the community, Johns Hopkins University, the city of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation, East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI) was created to rejuvenate this historic neighborhood. EBDI has worked with the community and other leaders to acquire land, purchase homes, attract new residents to the area, and improve the overall quality of life for existing residents as part of a $1 billion dollar redevelopment plan.

They’re Doing it By:

  • Replacing aging, obsolete housing with new units of mixed income rental and for sale property.

  • Strengthening and revitalizing the area with institutions and amenities that will encourage new and former residents to settle in the community.

  • Ensuring families affected by redevelopment are treated more fairly and are supported through EBDI’s efforts.

  • Leveraging proximity to Johns Hopkins medical complex into a stronger economic driver for the neighborhood.
