Midtown Detroit, Inc.

Midtown Detroit, Inc. (MDI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created to support and enhance community and economic development in the Midtown & New Center areas through collaboration and partnerships with key stakeholders and supportive funders.

  • Increasing residential occupancy rates by 96% and ensuring investment areas in Midtown consistently gain population.

  • Renovating the 71 Garfield and transforming the old building into 22 live/work spaces and eight studio/retail spaces.

  • Cultivating a vibrant neighborhood through the attraction of local businesses, cultural institutions, and restaurants

  • Assisting developers in acquiring and restoring vacant buildings throughout the district.
